Act 4-The Extended Ending
We are going to write an extended ending to A Raisin in the Sun, so we will call it Act 4, the last act. The family already has moved into the white city in which a black family was bombed out of. The attempt to stay there is crucial considering that they are the only black family there. We will write more about how many are being racist but the family does not back down. Not all stories end in happy endings. Walter dies after getting drunk and is in a car accident.
The Younger family has moved in a white neighborhood and nothing seemed fine anymore. Racism struck everywhere but not all was bad, yet not all was good. Travis goes to a new school and is having trouble getting to know everyone at school. Some teachers think he shouldn’t be there but some support him. Beneatha and Asagai got married and are vacationing in Africa. Mama decides to go with them.
Travis: (coming back from his first day of his new school, shuts the door) I’M HOME, MAMA!
Ruth: Why are you so mad?
Travis: Cuz people were picking on me today at school! (Throws his stuff on the couch).
Ruth: Boy, don’t start yelling at me like that.
Walter: (coming out of the kitchen with a knife) How was your day today?
Travis: Please don’t kill me.
Walter: I’M NOT going to kill you. I was just cutting some meat for dinner. So answer my question.
Ruth: People picked on him today.
Walter: Why?
Travis: Because I was black. These kids kept telling me to go back to where I came from.
Walter: What? I knew it was a bad idea to move to Clybourne Park.
Ruth: I’ll have to talk to Mama about that. Too bad she’s in Africa.
(The next day)
Travis is walking to school and a group of white kids are following him. Another kid named Greg walks next to him.
Greg: Just keep walking and don’t turn around. (Travis looks at him, like WTF).
Travis: Where the hell are you taking me?
Greg: I’m showing you a shortcut to get away from them. (Travis looks somewhat happy that he might have made a friend).
As they arrive to school, Greg would know the consequences to helping Travis because of his race, but he didn’t care.
Travis: Thanks but won’t they bother you now?
Greg: I don’t really care. The truth is, they’re real racist sons of Bitchs
Travis: well not all! :)
Greg: What do you mean by that???
Travis: well you are not like that you are my only friend and most of all my best friend!
Greg: Well I understand that… It not fair for none of us because im a nerd and people pick on me and now that you are here they pick on both of us.
Travis & Greg: we have to stand up for ourselves. (Joey, the guy who’s mean to Travis and Greg, comes up to them.)
Joey: Go back to where you came from.
Travis: Shut up, you cracker. (Travis, Joey, and Greg get into a fight.)
Teacher: What’s going on here? Stop fighting or I’m calling your parents.
The bell rings school is over
Then they were walking down an alley. Once the police saw Travis and Joey fighting fist to fist and the police arrested Travis and takes him to jail just because he is black…….
Police : you are responsible for this?
Travis: No he is the one who punch me first. (Travis pointed to his black eye. Police takes him to juvie. There Travis is sentenced to one year of jail. The Younger family gets a call from the police about what happened. Walter decides to hire a lawyer for Travis. There were pretty much only white lawyers, and none didn’t seem to c are. So later on, Walter leaves his house with liquor and looks angry.
Walter: I’ll be back later!!!
Ruth: Where are you going?
Walter: I’m gonna go find a good lawyer.
Walter slams the car door and just looks at the empty street.
Walter: Finally another drink.
He had nowhere to go but just wanted to get to know the town. As he looks to his left, there is a clown just smiling at him. Walter looked very confused and a little creeped out.
Walter: What the hell? Who the hell are you.
The clown giggles a little and points at the train coming.
Unfortunately Walter had stopped at the railroad tracks and couldn’t get out or move the car. So he broke the window with his fist, but by the time his head reached out, the train ran him over. As the train stopped the man driving it was happy.
Clybourne News
“ The dead clown strikes again.” With his brother they managed to kill Walter Lee Younger- a new resident in this town.
